Festival 17th of August documents the historical independence day of the world’s favorite country “Indonesia”, as a result of a great revolution that started in the year of 1945, when Indonesia was a colony of the Netherlands.
Due to the remarkable collaboration of Achmed Sukarno and Muhammad Hatta with the Japanese military; Indonesia has finally reclaimed from the Dutch government. And On August 17, 1945, Sukarno announced the Proclamation of the Indonesian Independence.
Various joyful celebrations and activities are held throughout the day all over the country gathering Indonesian of all ages, including historical tours, historical films, parades, flag raising ceremonies, sack races, neighborhood games, cooking competitions, palm tree climbing, eating contests and many other fascinating gestures.
