Perang Pandan means thorny pandan leaf battles, which is an ancient tradition of the Tenganan Dauh Tukad village in Karangasem that has a blood sport ritual dedicated to Indra, the Hindu god of war and sky. The ritual sees friendly duels between male villagers that arm themselves with a rattan shield and a handful of thorny pandan leaves. This is an event that is held once a year according to the local’s calendar. The celebration has a lot of cheering visitors and is very exciting and adrenaline packed. It is held in East Bali, Tenganan Pegringsingan Karangasem.
