The New Year’s Eve of the Saka calendar is a great bustle and festive day that everybody celebrates; as on the following day, The Day of Silence (Nyepi) will take place.

On this New Year’s Eve people go out to the streets in the afternoon and they parade with ogoh-ogoh maché effigies throughout Bali, and when the night comes they light fire torches as well as firecrackers for the purpose of getting rid of those bad forces that could threat the country and of course, to prepare for the Nyepi day.
