Melasti Pilgrimages :
Overview

The Melasti procession is celebrated about three days before the Saka New Year and it is the time when pilgrims carry heirlooms from temples to the coastlines where rituals are performed making a perfect and stunning scenery with small effigies and banners.

If you happen to be on this island on this magnificent day, you will be lucky to observe hundreds of Balinese wearing their local clothing on this ritual that has been performed for thousands of years where they take temples objects of importance to the closest beaches or water sources to be purified.

On this day, men wear white and yellow cloth to symbolize a connection with God and women carry rice and fruits.
The Melesi Pilgrimage is celebrated during the whole day, and all the ceremonies related to this day are intended to purify the entire village.
